I’m glad I cut the cord, but I’m tired of switching between three or four devices just to watch my favorite shows.

This is a common complaint I get from my visitors. They’ve gotten rid of cable, but now they have to hook up an antenna, Android TV and their Amazon FireStick just to watch their favorite shows and local TV stations.

There has to be a better way.

    There is: AirTV player.

While not perfect, there’s a lot to like about the AirTV – especially if you want an all-in-one solution for your TV.

    What is the AirTV Box?

Think of AirTV as your own personal streaming box. You can use it to watch Netflix, Sling TV and even Android TV. But you can also use it to watch live television from local channels.

That’s right – you can stream and watch local television stations using one simple device.

    That means you can watch:

    • TV shows and movies on streaming services, like Sling, Netflix and more
    • Watch local sports, news and broadcast channels in HD

But that’s not all this box can do. AirTV is so much more than just a Sling TV box or a dish box. With the click of a button, you can connect with Google Play to discover new music, apps and games.

I know what you’re thinking: How can this one device do all of that? I haven’t even heard about AirTV. Is it a scam?

No – AirTV is not a scam. Here’s how it works:

    • The AirTV player connects to the AirTV Adapter
    • The AirTV Adapter connects to an OTA antenna

When the three are connected, you can watch local channels and your favorite streaming services without having to switch between different devices.

    AirTV:

    • Supports 1080p HD and 4K Ultra HD
    • Is compatible with Android Bluetooth devices, including headphones, headsets and game controllers
    • Built-in remote finder and Wi-Fi connectivity

    The Remote

Here’s the thing that I really like about AirTV: the remote. Yes, I really like that that this is an all-in-one solution for TV, but the remote makes it so easy to get straight to the content you want.

The remote control has three cool buttons:

    • Sling
    • Netflix
    • Google

Forget having to fumble around, clicking on different things to navigate your way to the right app. Just press the Sling AirTV button and start watching your favorite shows.

One-touch access to streaming services makes this remote a really great asset and is a big part of the reason why I like AirTV.

There’s also a speaker button for voice activation. While you’re balancing a bowl of popcorn in one arm and a bouncy child in the other, you can tell your AirTV what to put on.

Two-way Bluetooth and Android 6.0 compliance make this remote pretty impressive. I was pleasantly surprised by it. You can even adjust the volume from just one remote.

The Bluetooth function of the remote allows you to control your television, the AirTV box and your sound system. Now you can pare down your remote collection, too.

    The Technical Specs

Let’s talk about the AirTV box itself for a second. This box has just about every port that you could possibly need, including:

    • 2 USB ports
    • 1 HDMI port
    • 1 digital audio port
    • 1 ethernet port

The hardware and software specs are pretty impressive, too.

    • Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2×2 Dual-Band
    • Front-facing infrared lens
    • 2 GB DDR and 8 GB flash memory
    • Front-facing LED indicator
    • 4kp60 max decode and video resolution
    • MPEG2, MPEG4, HEVC, VP9 decode video compression
    • Dolby Digital/Dolby Digital Plus audio codec

AirTV connects to your home’s Wi-Fi, which allows you to use your streaming services without a hitch. I also think it’s great that the device has built-in memory.

And who doesn’t want to be able to watch Netflix or Sling in crisp, 4k UHD?

    The AirTV Package

AirTV comes with just about everything you need to watch streaming services and local TV channels.

    Each package comes with:

    • AirTV player
    • AirTV remote
    • AirTV Adapter
    • HDMI cable
    • USB extension cable

All you need is a TV, internet connection and an OTA antenna. I’d like to point out that you can still use the AirTV without an antenna. You just won’t be able to watch broadcast channels.

    AirTV and Skylink

If you want to watch broadcast and local TV channels with AirTV, you’ll need to connect to an antenna. I recommend pairing it with the Skylink antenna. Skylink has a super-long range – 75 miles – so you can pick up on so many more channels than with conventional indoor antennas.

There’s a reason Skylink is our favorite antenna: it’s powerful, discreet and has an impressive range.

It would be easy to pair the two, as Skylink can easily hook up to the AirTV adapter. And Skylink’s discreet design makes it easy to hide. Tuck the antenna away behind the TV and no one will ever know that you’re using one.

    My AirTV Player Review

I don’t know about you, but I hate having to switch between three or four different devices to watch TV or movies. AirTV makes life a little bit easier by combining everything into one simple device.

An adapter allows you to connect to an antenna and use streaming services through Wi-Fi.

AirTV is a great addition to your home, but there are a few things I would change.

For starters, I think including an OTA antenna with the package would have made it even better. If you’re just getting started with your setup, you’ll need to spend more to get the box and the antenna.

Also, I feel the box could have used an extra HDMI port.

Don’t get me wrong – I still rate the AirTV at 96%. If you already have an antenna in your home, it’s the perfect addition to your entertainment set-up – especially if you subscribe to one or more streaming services.

Setup is easy. It’s plug-and-play. And the remote makes your life so much easier.

If you want a simple way to get all of your TV entertainment in one easy set-up, AirTV is a great option.
